  2. Is there a basic, how to learn Morse using this application help or faq?

(i posted this within my original comment but maybe it got lost)
    .
I am very new to learning morse code. Is there info on how best to use this app for newbies? I thought that there would be some way for me to input what I heard and that the app would provide feedback (correct incorrect), maybe I was confusing this with another app?? At any rate what is the best way for a person just getting started to use this app the best? Do I need to write down what I hear and manually compare? I was hoping…

  4. Send cw messages to other users.

Wouldn't it be nice to send and receive messages - in cw - with other users?

  5. Have voice over

Have the morse and voice at the same time so we can learn on the road. Use words and letters.

As one of the posters pointed out, there is a bug with the QSO and the personalization option. The app will crash if you have not replaced the default ‘undefined’ Name and callsign with something else.

I am working on getting this cleared up but for now, filling in the name and callsign fields with any value will solve the problem.

  9. More words

I would like more words added to the list. Many are very short. Another 500 would be great! Add ham words too, like antenna, rig, kenwood, etc. Or, allow the user to add words to the list.

Hi Ed, Thanks for the bug report. I am aware of the bug and I am working on it right now. There is a simple fix in the meantime – simply enter your name and a call sign (or any other text) into the Personalization Settings section on the Settings page.

Clearly the app should work correctly even if you don’t enter something here and I thought that I had that taken care of but I must have missed something. Give the fix a try and let me know how you get on, in the meantime I’m working on getting things fixed up here.

    Many thanks,

    Simon, AA9PW

  13. Learning booster mode

Add operation mode whereby the app leaves a blank space to allow the operator to key in with a real key, at speed, the character or group just heard. In addition to the send practice drill, I believe this will also improve the ability to recognize a new character in Koch mode for example. 73!

  15. Display bug found

I am practicing at Char WPM: 20. I found that for Speed >= 16 I copy 125 characters but only 124 are displayed. The very last character is not displayed.

  16. What is the equal sign for?

I admit I'm just starting out, but it throws me every time I hear it and I have to start over.

  18. Add support for accented characters - like äöå.

Many European languages have these, would be nice for completeness' sake.

  19. Which one is the new letter

When we add a letter in the koch method the runs now include the new letter. But we haven't had a chance to learn it yet. It would be nice to allow a minute or more of the single letter so that we can get used to hgearing it before doing 5 minutes of random text with the new letter.

Hi Dave, This sounds like a great idea.

I had some thoughts on how we could do this:

    • When you push the [+] button I could have the app pop up an alert asking if you would like to add a run of the new letter to the start of your next practice session.
    • Alternatively (or in addition) I could have this be on the Settings page so you could set this to happen automatically when you add a new letter, this would save you from having to respond to an alert.

I was also wondering if it would be worth temporarily increasing the frequency at which the new letter appears in the random text. This would show you the new letter more often for a while, then it would go back to appearing at random along with the other letters in your practice set.
